Ο Δόλοπας έλαβε μέρος στον Τρωικό Πόλεμο, στον οποίο και σκοτώθηκε από τον Μενέλαο. Συγκεκριμένα, ενώ ο Δόλοπας μαχόταν, ο Μενέλαος τον πλησίασε από το πλάι χωρίς να γίνει αντιληπτός και τον λόγχισε στο πίσω μέρος του ώμου. Η διαπέρασε όλο το στήθος με ορμή και ο Δόλοπας έπεσε νεκρός με το πρόσωπο στο χώμα. Καθώς οι Αχαιοί έτρεξαν να σκυλεύσουν το πτώμα του, ο Έκτορας «ονείδισε» τον συμπολεμιστή του Μελάνιππο: «`Ετσι θα μείνομ' άπραγοι, Μελάνιππε; Δεν έχεις / πόνο για τον εξάδελφο; Δεν βλέπεις πώς μαλάζουν / τ' άρματα εκεί του Δόλοπος;...». Αυτά αναφέρονται στην Ιλιάδα (Ο 525-527, και εδώ Ο 553-555 σε μετάφραση Ι. Πολυλά. Ο Δόλοπας ήταν πρώτος εξάδελφος του `Εκτορα, με κοινό παππού τον Λαομέδοντα.). 2. * Γιος του Αχαιού Κλυτίου, ένας από τους `Ελληνες αρχηγούς που έλαβαν μέρος στον Τρωικό Πόλεμο. Αυτός ο Δόλοψ, ο «Κλυτίδης», σκοτώθηκε στον πόλεμο από τον `Εκτορα μαζί με άλλους 8 αρχηγούς των Ελλήνων, κάτι που αναφέρεται στην Ιλιάδα (Λ 302). (el)
