It was founded by John Cowan and was maintained by him and Michael Everson but has not been updated since 2008 and is no longer actively maintained. It has no formal connection with the Unicode Consortium. The Under-ConScript Unicode Registry (UCSUR) is a continuation of the CSUR that has added 21 scripts to the agreement since its inception. Originally intended as a holding standard while the original maintainers of the CSUR took a break, the UCSUR has been the only actively maintained PUA agreement retaining the original CSUR allocations since 2008.
