The presidential elections were won by Rómulo Gallegos of Democratic Action, who received 74.3% of the vote, the largest presidential win in Venezuela's modern history. His party won 83 of the 110 seats in the Chamber of Deputies and 38 of the 46 seats in the Senate. The election has been described as the first honest election in Venezuelan history. In previous elections, the Congress of Venezuela had decided and voted on who would assume the presidency. (en)
- Las elecciones generales de Venezuela de 1947 se realizaron el 14 de diciembre de 1947 y fueron las primeras elecciones presidenciales libres y la cuarta en forma directa en Venezuela. Para elegir al sucesor de Rómulo Betancourt, Presidente de la Junta Revolucionaria de Gobierno. En estos comicios resultó vencedor el escritor Rómulo Gallegos del partido Acción Democrática. A su vez se llevaron a cabo elecciones parlamentarias, las cuales fueron las primeras elecciones para el Congreso de la República durante el gobierno provisional de Rómulo Betancourt y las primeras elecciones universales y directas en la historia de Venezuela. El partido Acción Democrática obtuvo una victoria aplastante con el 70.8% de los votos, obteniendo 83 de los 110 diputados y 38 de los 46 senadores. La participación electoral rondó el 76%. (es)
