British progressive artist Gareth Emery will be taking a break from touring too far from home in 2015, as he’s expecting to become a father early next year. The dance music mainstay announced the news via Facebook on Christmas and took the opportunity to explain his feelings and future plans.
Shows in the United States and Canada won’t be affected, as Emery is currently based out of Los Angeles with his wife, Kat. The couple are expecting a little girl in March of 2015, and the ability to be home relatively quickly if necessary, rather than ‘hoping the hotel wi-fi is fast enough to FaceTime’, played a role in the decision. Luckily, the Northwest got adose of Emery not too long ago at FreakNight 2014 and, once things are settled for Emery, we’d love to have him back.
Prior to his travel hiatus,Emery will be performing anall-night set sometime in February in Manchester for his only UK show of the year. He’ll also perform at ASOT in the Netherlands, as well as a couple of other European festivals, but after that it’ll be exclusively North America. He’ll also be putting the time at home to good use, not only with his family but professionally as well. Emery said he will be using 2015 to finish writing his upcoming album, which is apparently already half-written.
Let us know how happy you are for Emery, what you think of his decision, and how ready you are for his return to the Northwest! Comment below, onFaceook, or reply onTwitter!
