In an attempt to stem the rising lawlessness on the frontier during the
1880's, the government recruits agent Christopher Colt (Wayde Preston) to
pose as a salesman for the Colt .45 repeater, which had been invented
by his father. In the second season Donald May replaced Wayde Preston as
Christopher's cousin Sam Colt Jr. In the final season Preston returned
to the series replacing Donald May, who left to star in another
Warner Brothers series "The Roaring 20's"
THE IDEA FOR THE SERIES WAS BASED ON THE 1950 WARNER BROTHERS WESTERN
FEATURE, ALSO TITLED "COLT 45", STARRING RANDOLPH SCOTT.
