The sinof Judahis writtendownwith an ironstylus; With a diamondpointit is engravedupon the tabletof their heartAnd on the hornsof their altars,
As they remembertheir children,So they [remember] their altarsand their AsherimBy greentreeson the highhills.
O mountainof Mine in the countryside,I will giveover your wealthand allyour treasuresfor booty,Your highplacesfor sinthroughoutyour borders.
And you will, even of yourself, letgoof your inheritanceThat I gaveyou; And I will make you serveyour enemiesIn the landwhichyou do not know; For you have kindleda firein My angerWhich will burnforever.
Thussaysthe LORD,"Cursedis the manwhotrustsin mankindAnd makesfleshhis strength,And whose heartturnsawayfrom the LORD.
"For he will be like a bushin the desertAnd will not seewhenprosperitycomes,But will livein stonywastesin the wilderness,A landof saltwithoutinhabitant.
"Blessedis the manwhotrustsin the LORDAnd whose trustis the LORD.
"For he will be like a treeplantedby the water,That extendsits rootsby a streamAnd will not fearwhenthe heatcomes; But its leaveswill be green,And it will not be anxiousin a yearof droughtNorceaseto yieldfruit.
"The heartis moredeceitfulthanallelse And is desperatelysick;Whocan understandit?
"I, the LORD,searchthe heart,I testthe mind,Even to giveto eachmanaccording to his ways,According to the resultsof his deeds.
"As a partridgethat hatcheseggswhich it has not laid,[So] is he who makesa fortune, but unjustly; In the midstof his daysit will forsakehim, And in the endhe will be a fool."
A gloriousthroneon highfrom the beginningIs the placeof our sanctuary.
O LORD,the hopeof Israel,Allwho forsakeYou will be putto shame. Those who turnawayon earthwill be writtendown,Becausethey have forsakenthe fountainof livingwater, even the LORD.
Healme, O LORD,and I will be healed;Saveme and I will be saved,For You are my praise.
Look, they keep sayingto me, "Whereis the wordof the LORD?Let it comenow!"
But as for me, I have not hurriedaway from [being] a shepherdafterYou, Norhave I longedfor the woefulday; You Yourselfknowthat the utteranceof my lipsWas in Your presence.
Do not be a terrorto me; You are my refugein the dayof disaster.
Let those who persecuteme be putto shame, but as for me, let me not be putto shame;Let them be dismayed, but let me not be dismayed.Bringon them a dayof disaster,And crushthem with twofolddestruction!
Thusthe LORDsaidto me, "Goand standin the publicgate, through whichthe kingsof Judahcomein and goout, as well as in allthe gatesof Jerusalem;20and sayto them, 'Listento the wordof the LORD,kingsof Judah, and allJudahand allinhabitantsof Jerusalemwho comein through thesegates:21Thussaysthe LORD,"Takeheedfor yourselves, and do not carryany loadon the sabbathdayor bringanything in through the gatesof Jerusalem.22"You shall not bringa loadout of your houseson the sabbathdaynordoanywork, but keepthe sabbathdayholy,as I commandedyour forefathers.23"Yet they did not listenor inclinetheir ears, but stiffenedtheir necksin order not to listenor takecorrection.
"But it will comeabout, ifyou listenattentivelyto Me," declaresthe LORD,"to bringnoloadin through the gatesof thiscityon the sabbathday, but to keepthe sabbathdayholyby doingnoworkon it,25then there will comein through the gatesof thiscitykingsand princessittingon the throneof David, ridingin chariotsand on horses, they and their princes, the menof Judahand the inhabitantsof Jerusalem, and thiscitywill be inhabitedforever.26"They will comein from the citiesof Judahand from the environsof Jerusalem, from the landof Benjamin, from the lowland, from the hillcountryand from the Negev, bringingburntofferings, sacrifices, grain offeringsand incense, and bringingsacrificesof thanksgivingto the houseof the LORD.27"But ifyou do not listento Me to keepthe sabbathdayholyby not carryinga loadand comingin through the gatesof Jerusalemon the sabbathday, then I will kindlea firein its gatesand it will devourthe palacesof Jerusalemand not be quenched."'"
