A Gentle Answer Turns Away Wrath
1A softanswerturnethaway wrath:but grievouswordsstir upanger.
2The tongueof the wiseuseth knowledgearight:but the mouthof foolspoureth outfoolishness.
3The eyesof the LORD[are] in every place,beholdingthe eviland the good.
4A wholesometongue[is] a treeof life:but perversenesstherein [is] a breachin the spirit.
5A fooldespisethhis father'sinstruction:but he that regardethreproofis prudent.
6In the houseof the righteous[is] muchtreasure:but in the revenuesof the wickedis trouble.
7The lipsof the wisedisperseknowledge:but the heartof the foolish[doeth] not so.
8The sacrificeof the wicked[is] an abominationto the LORD:but the prayerof the upright[is] his delight.
9The wayof the wicked[is] an abominationunto the LORD:but he lovethhim that followethafter righteousness.
10Correction[is] grievousunto him that forsakeththe way:[and] he that hatethreproofshall die.
11Helland destruction[are] before the LORD:how much more then the heartsof the childrenof men?
12A scornerlovethnot one that reprovethhim: neither will he gounto the wise.
13A merryheartmaketh a cheerfulcountenance:but by sorrowof the heartthe spiritis broken.
14The heartof him that hath understandingseekethknowledge:but the mouthof foolsfeedethon foolishness.
15All the daysof the afflicted[are] evil:but he that is of a merryheart[hath] a continualfeast.
16Better[is] littlewith the fearof the LORDthan greattreasureand troubletherewith.
17Better[is] a dinnerof herbswhere loveis, than a stalledoxand hatredtherewith.
18A wrathfulmanstirreth upstrife:but [he that is] slowto angerappeasethstrife.
19The wayof the slothful[man is] as an hedgeof thorns:but the wayof the righteous[is] made plain.
20A wisesonmaketh a gladfather:but a foolishmandespisethhis mother.
21Folly[is] joyto [him that is] destituteof wisdom:but a manof understandingwalkethuprightly.
22Without counselpurposesare disappointed:but in the multitudeof counsellorsthey are established.
23A manhath joyby the answerof his mouth:and a word[spoken] in due season,how good[is it]!
24The wayof life[is] aboveto the wise,that he may departfrom hellbeneath.
25The LORDwill destroythe houseof the proud:but he will establishthe borderof the widow.
26The thoughtsof the wicked[are] an abominationto the LORD:but [the words] of the pure[are] pleasantwords.
27He that is greedyof gaintroublethhis own house;but he that hatethgiftsshall live.
28The heartof the righteousstudiethto answer:but the mouthof the wickedpourethout evil things.
29The LORD[is] farfrom the wicked:but he heareththe prayerof the righteous.
30The lightof the eyesrejoiceththe heart:[and] a goodreportmakeththe bonesfat.
31The earthat heareththe reproofof lifeabidethamongthe wise.
32He that refusethinstructiondespisethhis own soul:but he that hearethreproofgettethunderstanding.
33The fearof the LORD[is] the instructionof wisdom;and beforehonour[is] humility.
