KJV + Strong's Jeremiah's Continual Tears 1Oh thatmy headwere waters,and mine eyesa fountainof tears,that I might weepdayand nightfor the slainof the daughterof my people! 2Oh thatI had in the wildernessa lodging placeof wayfaring men;that I might leavemy people,and gofrom them! for they [be] all adulterers,an assemblyof treacherous men. 3And they bendtheir tongues[like] their bow[for] lies:but they are not valiantfor the truthupon the earth;for they proceedfrom evilto evil,and they knownot me, saiththe LORD. 4Take ye heedevery oneof his neighbour,and trustye not in any brother:for every brotherwill utterlysupplant,and every neighbourwill walkwith slanders. 5And they will deceiveevery onehis neighbour,and will not speakthe truth:they have taughttheir tongueto speaklies,[and] wearythemselves to commit iniquity. 6Thine habitation[is] in the midstof deceit;through deceitthey refuseto knowme, saiththe LORD. 7Therefore thus saiththe LORDof hosts,Behold, I will meltthem, and trythem; for how shall I doforthe daughterof my people? 8Their tongue[is as] an arrowshot out;it speakethdeceit:[one] speakethpeaceablyto his neighbourwith his mouth,but in hearthe layethhis wait. 9Shall I not visitthem for these [things]? saiththe LORD:shall not my soulbe avengedon such a nationas this? 10For the mountainswill I take upa weepingand wailing,and for the habitationsof the wildernessa lamentation,because they are burned up,so that nonecan passthrough [them]; neither can [men] hearthe voiceof the cattle;both the fowlof the heavensand the beastare fled;they are gone. 11And I will makeJerusalemheaps,[and] a denof dragons;and I will makethe citiesof Judahdesolate,without an inhabitant. 12Who [is] the wiseman,that may understandthis? and [who is he] to whom the mouthof the LORDhath spoken,that he may declareit, for what the landperisheth[and] is burned uplike a wilderness,that none passeth through?13And the LORDsaith,Because they have forsakenmy lawwhich I setbeforethem, and have not obeyedmy voice,neither walkedtherein;14But have walkedafterthe imaginationof their own heart,and afterBaalim,which their fatherstaughtthem:15Therefore thus saiththe LORDof hosts,the Godof Israel;Behold, I will feedthem, [even] this people,with wormwood,and give them waterof gallto drink.16I will scatterthem also among the heathen,whom neither they nor their fathershave known:and I will senda swordafterthem, till I have consumedthem. Weeping in Jerusalem 17Thus saiththe LORDof hosts,Considerye, and callfor the mourning women,that they may come;and sendfor cunning[women], that they may come: 18And let them make haste,and take upa wailingfor us, that our eyesmay run downwith tears,and our eyelidsgush outwith waters. 19For a voiceof wailingis heardout of Zion,How are we spoiled!we are greatlyconfounded,because we have forsakenthe land,because our dwellingshave cast [us] out. 20Yet hearthe wordof the LORD,O ye women,and let your earreceivethe wordof his mouth,and teachyour daughterswailing,and every oneher neighbourlamentation. 21For deathis come upinto our windows,[and] is enteredinto our palaces,to cut offthe childrenfrom without,[and] the young menfrom the streets. 22Speak,Thus saiththe LORD,Even the carcasesof menshall fallas dungupon the openfield,and as the handfulafterthe harvestman,and none shall gather[them]. 23Thus saiththe LORD,Let not the wise[man] gloryin his wisdom,neither let the mighty[man] gloryin his might,let not the rich[man] gloryin his riches:24But let him that gloriethgloryin this, that he understandethand knowethme, that I [am] the LORDwhich exerciselovingkindness,judgment,and righteousness,in the earth:for in these [things] I delight,saiththe LORD. 25Behold, the dayscome,saiththe LORD,that I will punishall [them which are] circumcisedwith the uncircumcised;26Egypt,and Judah,and Edom,and the childrenof Ammon,and Moab,and all [that are] in the utmostcorners,that dwellin the wilderness:for all [these] nations[are] uncircumcised,and all the houseof Israel[are] uncircumcisedin the heart. |
