KJV + Strong's The Linen Belt 1Thus saiththe LORDunto me, Goand getthee a linengirdle,and putit upon thy loins,and putit not in water.2So I gota girdleaccording to the wordof the LORD,and put[it] on my loins.3And the wordof the LORDcame unto me the second time,saying,4Takethe girdlethat thou hast got,which [is] upon thy loins,and arise,goto Euphrates,and hideit there in a holeof the rock.5So I went,and hidit by Euphrates,as the LORDcommandedme.6And it came to pass aftermanydays,that the LORDsaidunto me, Arise,goto Euphrates,and takethe girdlefrom thence, which I commandedthee to hidethere.7Then I wentto Euphrates,and digged,and tookthe girdlefrom the placewhere I had hidit: and, behold, the girdlewas marred,it was profitablefor nothing. 8Then the wordof the LORDcame unto me, saying,9Thus saiththe LORD,After this manner will I marthe prideof Judah,and the greatprideof Jerusalem.10This evilpeople,which refuseto hearmy words,which walkin the imaginationof their heart,and walkafterothergods,to servethem, and to worshipthem, shall even be as this girdle,which is goodfor nothing.11For as the girdlecleavethto the loinsof a man,so have I caused to cleaveunto me the whole houseof Israeland the whole houseof Judah,saiththe LORD;that they might be unto me for a people,and for a name,and for a praise,and for a glory:but they would not hear. The Wineskins 12Therefore thou shalt speakunto them this word;Thus saiththe LORDGodof Israel,Every bottleshall be filledwith wine:and they shall sayunto thee, Do we not certainlyknowthat every bottleshall be filledwith wine?13Then shalt thou sayunto them, Thus saiththe LORD,Behold, I will fillall the inhabitantsof this land,even the kingsthat situpon David'sthrone,and the priests,and the prophets,and all the inhabitantsof Jerusalem,with drunkenness.14And I will dashthem oneagainst another,even the fathersand the sonstogether,saiththe LORD:I will not pity,nor spare,nor have mercy,but destroythem. Captivity Threatened 15Hearye, and give ear;be not proud:for the LORDhath spoken. 16Givegloryto the LORDyour God,before he cause darkness,and before your feetstumbleupon the darkmountains,and, while ye lookfor light,he turnit into the shadow of death,[and] make{08675;07896:08799} [it] gross darkness. 17But if ye will not hearit, my soulshall weepin secret placesfor[your] pride;and mine eyeshall weepsore,and run downwith tears,because the LORD'Sflockis carried away captive. 18Sayunto the kingand to the queen,Humbleyourselves, sit down:for your principalitiesshall come down,[even] the crownof your glory. 19The citiesof the southshall be shut up,and none shall open[them]: Judahshall be carried away captiveall of it, it shall be whollycarried away captive. 20Lift upyour eyes,and beholdthem that comefrom the north:where [is] the flock[that] was giventhee, thy beautifulflock? 21What wilt thou saywhen he shall punishthee? for thou hast taughtthem [to be] captains,[and] as chiefover thee: shall not sorrowstakethee, as a womanin travail? 22And if thou sayin thine heart,Wherefore comethese things upon me? For the greatnessof thine iniquityare thy skirtsdiscovered,[and] thy heelsmade bare. 23Can the Ethiopianchangehis skin,or the leopardhis spots?[then] mayye also do good,that are accustomedto do evil. 24Therefore will I scatterthem as the stubblethat passeth awayby the windof the wilderness. 25This [is] thy lot,the portionof thy measuresfrom me, saiththe LORD;because thou hast forgottenme, and trustedin falsehood. 26Therefore will I discoverthy skirtsupon thy face,that thy shamemay appear. 27I have seenthine adulteries,and thy neighings,the lewdnessof thy whoredom,[and] thine abominationson the hillsin the fields.Woeunto thee, O Jerusalem!wilt thou not be made clean?when [shall it] once[be]? |
