To Everything There is a Season
To every [thing there is] a season,and a timeto every purposeunder the heaven:
A timeto be born,and a timeto die;a timeto plant,and a timeto pluck up[that which is] planted;
A timeto kill,and a timeto heal;a timeto break down,and a timeto build up;
A timeto weep,and a timeto laugh;a timeto mourn,and a timeto dance;
A timeto cast awaystones,and a timeto gatherstonestogether;a timeto embrace,and a timeto refrainfrom embracing;
A timeto get,and a timeto lose;a timeto keep,and a timeto cast away;
A timeto rend,and a timeto sew;a timeto keep silence,and a timeto speak;
A timeto love,and a timeto hate;a timeof war,and a timeof peace.
The Excellence in God's Works
What profithath he that workethin that whereinhe laboureth?10I have seenthe travail,which Godhath givento the sonsof mento be exercisedin it.
He hath madeevery [thing] beautifulin his time:also he hath setthe worldin their heart,so thatno mancan find outthe workthat Godmakethfrom the beginningto the end.
I knowthat [there is] no goodin them, but for [a man] to rejoice,and to dogoodin his life.13And also that every manshould eatand drink,and enjoythe goodof all his labour,it [is] the giftof God.14I knowthat, whatsoever Goddoeth,it shall be for ever:nothingcan be putto it, nor any thing takenfrom it: and Goddoeth[it], that [men] should fearbeforehim.15That which hath been is now;and that which is to be hath alreadybeen; and Godrequireththat which is past.
From Dust to Dust
And moreover I sawunder the sunthe placeof judgment,[that] wickedness[was] there; and the placeof righteousness,[that] iniquity[was] there.17I saidin mine heart,Godshall judgethe righteousand the wicked:for [there is] a timethere for every purposeand for every work.18I saidin mine heartconcerning the estateof the sonsof men,that Godmight manifestthem, and that they might seethat theythemselves are beasts.19For that which befalleththe sonsof menbefallethbeasts;even one thingbefalleththem: as the one dieth,so dieththe other;yea, they have all onebreath;so that a manhath no preeminenceabove a beast:for all [is] vanity.20All gounto oneplace;all are of the dust,and all turnto dustagain.21Who knoweththe spiritof manthat goethupward,and the spiritof the beastthat goethdownwardto the earth?22Wherefore I perceivethat [there is] nothing better,than that a manshould rejoicein his own works;for that [is] his portion:for who shall bringhim to seewhat shall be afterhim?
