Amitava Bagchi,
an Indian physicist, computer scientist and professor emeritus at Management Information Systems at theIndian Institute of Management, Calcutta, andWest Bengal University of Technology[1]. He received his Ph.D. underRonald da Silva Meyer atMassachusetts Institute of Technology in 1972 onTopics in Complexity Theory and Recursion Theory.His research interests includesoftware engineering,software reliability,software verification and validation, analysis ofalgorithms, andcombinatorial auctions.Along with his Ph.D. students, he worked and published onsearch algorithms. Amitava Bagchi andSubir Bhattacharya investigatedStockman'sSSS* algorithm, and proposed arecursive implementation, calledRecSSS*.
