1Now in the eleventhyear,on the firstof the month,the wordof the LORDcameto me saying,2"Sonof man,becauseTyrehas saidconcerningJerusalem,'Aha,the gatewayof the peoplesis broken;it has openedto me. I shall be filled,[now that] she is laidwaste,'3thereforethussaysthe LordGOD,'Behold,I am againstyou, O Tyre,and I will bringup manynationsagainstyou, as the seabringsup its waves.4They will destroythe wallsof Tyreand breakdownher towers;and I will scrapeher debrisfrom her and makeher a barerock.5She will be a placefor the spreadingof netsin the midstof the sea,for I have spoken,'declaresthe LordGOD,'and she will becomespoilfor the nations.6Also her daughterswhoare on the mainlandwill be slainby the sword,and they will knowthat I am the LORD.'"

7For thussaysthe LordGOD,"Behold,I will bringupon Tyrefrom the northNebuchadnezzarkingof Babylon,kingof kings,with horses,chariots,cavalryand a greatarmy.8"He will slayyour daughterson the mainlandwith the sword;and he will makesiegewallsagainstyou, castup a rampagainstyou and raiseup a largeshieldagainstyou.9"The blowof his batteringramshe will directagainst your walls,and with his axeshe will breakdownyour towers.10"Becauseof the multitudeof his horses,the dust[raised by] them will coveryou; your wallswill shakeat the noiseof cavalryand wagonsand chariotswhen he entersyour gatesas men entera citythat is breached.11"With the hoofsof his horseshe will trampleallyour streets.He will slayyour peoplewith the sword;and your strongpillarswill comedownto the ground.12"Also they will makea spoilof your richesand a preyof your merchandise,breakdownyour wallsand destroyyour pleasanthouses,and throwyour stonesand your timbersand your debrisinto the water.13"So I will silencethe soundof your songs,and the soundof your harpswill be heardnomore.14"I will makeyou a barerock;you will be a placefor the spreadingof nets.You will be builtnomore,for I the LORDhave spoken,"declaresthe LordGOD.

15Thussaysthe LordGODto Tyre,"Shall not the coastlandsshakeat the soundof your fallwhen the woundedgroan,when the slaughteroccursin your midst?16"Then allthe princesof the seawill godownfrom their thrones,removetheir robesand stripofftheir embroideredgarments.They will clothethemselves with trembling;they will siton the ground,trembleevery momentand be appalledat you.

17"They will takeup a lamentationoveryou and sayto you, 'Howyou have perished,O inhabitedone, From the seas,O renownedcity,Whichwas mightyon the sea,She and her inhabitants,Whoimposedher terrorOn allher inhabitants!

18Nowthe coastlandswill trembleOn the dayof your fall;Yes, the coastlandswhichare by the seaWill be terrifiedat your passing.'"

19For thussaysthe LordGOD,"When I makeyou a desolatecity,like the citieswhichare not inhabited,when I bringup the deepoveryou and the greatwaterscoveryou,20then I will bringyou downwith those who godownto the pit,to the peopleof old,and I will make you dwellin the lowerpartsof the earth,like the ancientwasteplaces,with those who godownto the pit,sothat you will not be inhabited;but I will setgloryin the landof the living.21"I will bringterrorson you and you will be nomore;though you will be sought,you will neverbe foundagain,"declaresthe LordGOD.
