1NowPeterand Johnwere goingup to the templeat the ninth[hour], the hourof prayer.2And a manwho had beenlamefrom his mother'swombwas being carriedalong, whomthey used to set downeverydayat the gateof the templewhich is calledBeautiful,in order to begalmsof thosewho were enteringthe temple.3When he sawPeterand Johnaboutto gointo the temple,he [began] askingto receivealms.4But Peter,alongwith John,fixed his gazeon him and said,"Lookat us!"5And he [began] to give them his attention,expectingto receivesomethingfrom them.6But Petersaid,"I do not possesssilverand gold,but whatI do haveI giveto you: In the nameof JesusChristthe Nazarene--walk!"7And seizinghim by the righthand,he raisedhim up; and immediatelyhis feetand his ankleswere strengthened.8With a leaphe stood uprightand [began] to walk;and he enteredthe templewith them, walkingand leapingand praisingGod.9And allthe peoplesawhim walkingand praisingGod;10and they were taking noteof him as beingthe one who used to sitat the BeautifulGateof the templeto [beg] alms,and they were filledwith wonderand amazementat what had happenedto him.
11While he was clingingto Peterand John,allthe peopleran togetherto them at the so-calledporticoof Solomon,full of amazement.12But when Petersaw[this], he repliedto the people,"Menof Israel,whyare you amazedat this,orwhydo you gazeat us, as ifby our ownpowerorpietywe had madehim walk?13"The Godof Abraham,Isaacand Jacob,the Godof our fathers,has glorifiedHis servantJesus,[the one] whomyou deliveredand disownedin the presenceof Pilate,when he had decidedto releaseHim.14"But you disownedthe Holyand Righteous Oneand askedfor a murdererto be grantedto you,15but put to deaththe Princeof life,[the one] whomGodraisedfrom the dead,[a fact] to whichwe are witnesses.16"And on the basisof faithin His name,[it is] the nameof Jesus which has strengthenedthisman whomyou seeand know;and the faithwhich [comes] throughHim has givenhim thisperfect healthin the presenceof you all.
17"And now,brethren,I knowthat you actedin ignorance,justas your rulersdid also.18"But the things whichGodannounced beforehandby the mouthof allthe prophets,that His Christwould suffer,He has thusfulfilled.19"Thereforerepentand return,sothat your sinsmay be wiped away,in orderthat timesof refreshingmay comefrom the presenceof the Lord;20and that He may sendJesus,the Christappointedfor you,21whomheavenmustreceiveuntil[the] periodof restorationof all thingsabout whichGodspokeby the mouthof His holyprophetsfrom ancient time.22"Mosessaid,THE LORDGODWILL RAISEUP FOR YOU A PROPHETLIKEME FROM YOUR BRETHREN;TO HIM YOU SHALL GIVE HEEDto everythingHe saysto you.23And it will be that everysoulthat does not heedthat prophetshall be utterly destroyedfrom amongthe people.'24"And likewise,allthe prophetswhohave spoken,from Samueland [his] successors onward,alsoannouncedthesedays.25"It is you who are the sonsof the prophetsand of the covenantwhichGodmadewith your fathers,sayingto Abraham,AND IN YOUR SEEDALLTHE FAMILIESOF THE EARTHSHALL BE BLESSED.'26"For you first,Godraisedup His Servantand sentHim to blessyou by turningevery one[of you] from your wicked ways."
