1Now KingSolomonwas kingoverallIsrael.2Thesewere his officials:Azariahthe sonof Zadok[was] the priest;3Elihorephand Ahijah,the sonsof Shisha[were] secretaries;Jehoshaphatthe sonof Ahilud[was] the recorder;4and Benaiahthe sonof Jehoiada[was] overthe army;and Zadokand Abiathar[were] priests;5and Azariahthe sonof Nathan[was] overthe deputies;and Zabudthe sonof Nathan,a priest,[was] the king'sfriend;6and Ahisharwas overthe household;and Adoniramthe sonof Abda[was] overthe mensubject to forcedlabor.

7Solomonhad twelvedeputiesoverallIsrael,who providedfor the kingand his household;eachman hadto providefor a monthin the year.8Theseare their names:Ben-hur,in the hillcountryof Ephraim;9Ben-dekerin Makazand Shaalbimand Beth-shemeshand Elonbeth-hanan;10Ben-hesed,in Arubboth(Socoh[was] his and allthe landof Hepher);11Ben-abinadab,[in] allthe heightof Dor(Taphaththe daughterof Solomonwas his wife);12Baanathe sonof Ahilud,[in] Taanachand Megiddo,and allBeth-sheanwhichis besideZarethanbelowJezreel,from Beth-sheanto Abel-meholahas faras the othersideof Jokmeam;13Ben-geber,in Ramoth-gilead(the townsof Jair,the sonof Manasseh,whichare in Gileadwere his: the regionof Argob,whichis in Bashan,sixtygreatcitieswith wallsand bronzebars[were] his);14Ahinadabthe sonof Iddo,[in] Mahanaim;15Ahimaaz,in Naphtali(he alsomarriedBasemaththe daughterof Solomon);16Baanathe sonof Hushai,in Asherand Bealoth;17Jehoshaphatthe sonof Paruah,in Issachar;18Shimeithe sonof Ela,in Benjamin;19Geberthe sonof Uri,in the landof Gilead,the countryof Sihonkingof the Amoritesand of Ogkingof Bashan;and [he was] the onlydeputywho[was] in the land.

20Judahand Israel[were] as numerousas the sandthat is on the seashorein abundance;[they] were eatingand drinkingand rejoicing.

21Now Solomonruledover allthe kingdomsfrom the River[to] the landof the Philistinesand to the borderof Egypt;[they] broughttributeand servedSolomonallthe daysof his life.

22Solomon'sprovisionfor onedaywas thirtykorsof fineflourand sixtykorsof meal,23tenfatoxen,twentypasture-fedoxen,a hundredsheepbesidesdeer,gazelles,roebucks,and fattenedfowl.24For he haddominionover everythingwestof the River,from Tiphsaheven to Gaza,over allthe kingswestof the River;and he hadpeaceon allsidesaroundabouthim.25So Judahand Israellivedin safety,everymanunderhis vineand his figtree,from Daneven to Beersheba,allthe daysof Solomon.26Solomonhad 40,000stallsof horsesfor his chariots,and 12,000horsemen.27Thosedeputiesprovidedfor KingSolomonand allwho cameto KingSolomon'stable,eachin his month;they leftnothinglacking.28They also broughtbarleyand strawfor the horsesand swiftsteedsto the placewhereit should be, eachaccording to his charge.

29Now GodgaveSolomonwisdomand verygreatdiscernmentand breadthof mind,like the sandthat is on the seashore.30Solomon'swisdomsurpassedthe wisdomof allthe sonsof the eastand allthe wisdomof Egypt.31For he was wiserthanallmen,thanEthanthe Ezrahite,Heman,Calcoland Darda,the sonsof Mahol;and his famewas [known] in allthe surroundingnations.32He also spoke3000proverbs,and his songswere 1,00533He spokeof trees,from the cedarthat is in Lebanoneven to the hyssopthat growson the wall;he spokealso of animalsand birdsand creepingthingsand fish.34Men camefrom allpeoplesto hearthe wisdomof Solomon,from allthe kingsof the earthwhohad heardof his wisdom.
