The Judgment on Jerusalem
1Woeto her that is filthyand polluted,to the oppressingcity!
2She obeyednot the voice;she receivednot correction;she trustednot in the LORD;she drew not nearto her God.
3Her princeswithinher [are] roaringlions;her judges[are] eveningwolves;they gnaw not the bonestill the morrow.
4Her prophets[are] light[and] treacherouspersons:her priestshave pollutedthe sanctuary,they have done violenceto the law.
5The justLORD[is] in the midstthereof; he will not doiniquity:everymorningdoth he bringhis judgmentto light,he failethnot; but the unjustknowethno shame.
6I have cut offthe nations:their towersare desolate;I made their streetswaste,that none passeth by:their citiesare destroyed,so that there is no man,that there is none inhabitant.
7I said,Surely thou wilt fearme, thou wilt receiveinstruction;so their dwellingshould not be cut off,howsoeverI punishedthem: butthey rose early,[and] corruptedall their doings.
8Therefore waitye upon me, saiththe LORD,until the daythat I rise upto the prey:for my determination[is] to gatherthe nations,that I may assemblethe kingdoms,to pourupon them mine indignation,[even] all my fierceanger:for all the earthshall be devouredwith the fireof my jealousy.
Purification of the Nations
9For then will I turnto the peoplea purelanguage,that they may all callupon the nameof the LORD,to servehim with oneconsent.
10From beyondthe riversof Ethiopiamy suppliants,[even] the daughterof my dispersed,shall bringmine offering.
11In that dayshalt thou not be ashamedfor all thy doings,wherein thou hast transgressedagainst me: for then I will take awayout of the midstof thee them that rejoicein thy pride,and thou shalt no morebe haughtybecause of my holymountain.
12I will also leavein the midstof thee an afflictedand poorpeople,and they shall trustin the nameof the LORD.
13The remnantof Israelshall not doiniquity,nor speaklies;neither shall a deceitfultonguebe foundin their mouth:for they shall feedand lie down,and none shall make [them] afraid.
Israel's Restoration
14Sing,O daughterof Zion;shout,O Israel;be gladand rejoicewith all the heart,O daughterof Jerusalem.
15The LORDhath taken awaythy judgments,he hath cast outthine enemy:the kingof Israel,[even] the LORD,[is] in the midstof thee: thou shalt not seeevilany more.
16In that dayit shall be saidto Jerusalem,Fearthou not: [and to] Zion,Let not thine handsbe slack.
17The LORDthy Godin the midstof thee [is] mighty;he will save,he will rejoiceover thee with joy;he will restin his love,he will joyover thee with singing.
18I will gather[them that are] sorrowfulfor the solemn assembly,[who] are of thee, [to whom] the reproachof it [was] a burden.
19Behold, at that timeI will undoall that afflictthee: and I will saveher that halteth,and gatherher that was driven out;and I will getthem praiseand famein every landwhere they have been put to shame.
20At that timewill I bringyou [again], even in the timethat I gatheryou: for I will makeyou a nameand a praiseamong all peopleof the earth,when I turn backyour captivitybefore your eyes,saiththe LORD.
