Judges Raised Up 16Nevertheless the LORDraised upjudges,which deliveredthem out of the handof those that spoiledthem.17And yet they would not hearkenunto their judges,but they went a whoringafterothergods,and bowedthemselves unto them: they turnedquicklyout of the waywhich their fatherswalked in,obeyingthe commandmentsof the LORD;[but] they didnot so.18And when the LORDraisedthem up judges,then the LORDwas with the judge,and deliveredthem out of the handof their enemiesall the daysof the judge:for it repentedthe LORDbecauseof their groaningsby reason of them that oppressedthem and vexedthem.19And it came to pass, when the judgewas dead,[that] they returned,and corrupted[themselves] more than their fathers,in followingothergodsto servethem, and to bow downunto them; they ceasednot from their own doings,nor from their stubbornway.20And the angerof the LORDwas hotagainst Israel;and he said,Because that this peoplehath transgressedmy covenantwhich I commandedtheir fathers,and have not hearkenedunto my voice;21I also will not henceforthdrive outanyfrom beforethem of the nationswhich Joshualeftwhen he died:22That through them I may proveIsrael,whether they will keepthe wayof the LORDto walktherein, as their fathersdid keep[it], or not.23Therefore the LORDleftthose nations,withoutdriving them outhastily;neither deliveredhe them into the handof Joshua. |
