KJV + Strong's Samson Denied his Wife 1But it came to pass within a while after,in the timeof wheatharvest,that Samsonvisitedhis wifewith a kid;and he said,I will go into my wifeinto the chamber.But her fatherwould not sufferhim to go in.2And her fathersaid,I verilythoughtthat thou hadst utterlyhatedher; therefore I gaveher to thy companion:[is] not her youngersisterfairerthan she? take her, I pray thee, instead of her. Samson Defeats the Philistines 3And Samsonsaidconcerning them, Nowshall I be more blamelessthan the Philistines,though I dothem a displeasure.4And Samsonwentand caughtthreehundredfoxes,and tookfirebrands,and turnedtailto tail,and putafirebrandin the midstbetween twotails.5And when he had setthe brandson fire,he let [them] gointo the standing cornof the Philistines,and burnt upboth the shocks,and also the standing corn,with the vineyards[and] olives.6Then the Philistinessaid,Who hath donethis? And they answered,Samson,the son in lawof the Timnite,because he had takenhis wife,and givenher to his companion.And the Philistinescame up,and burnther and her fatherwith fire.7And Samsonsaidunto them, Thoughye have donethis,yet will I be avengedof you, and afterthat I will cease.8And he smotethem hipandthighwith a greatslaughter:and he went downand dweltin the topof the rockEtam. 9Then the Philistineswent up,and pitchedin Judah,and spreadthemselves in Lehi.10And the menof Judahsaid,Why are ye come upagainst us? And they answered,To bindSamsonare we come up,to doto him as he hath doneto us.11Then threethousandmenof Judahwentto the topof the rockEtam,and saidto Samson,Knowestthou not that the Philistines[are] rulersover us? what [is] this [that] thou hast doneunto us? And he saidunto them, As they didunto me, so have I doneunto them.12And they saidunto him, We are come downto bindthee, that we may deliverthee into the handof the Philistines.And Samsonsaidunto them, Swearunto me, that ye will not fall uponme yourselves.13And they spakeunto him, saying,No; but we will bindthee fast,and deliverthee into their hand:but surelywe will not killthee. And they boundhim with twonewcords,and brought him upfrom the rock. 14[And] when he cameunto Lehi,the Philistinesshoutedagainsthim: and the Spiritof the LORDcame mightilyupon him, and the cordsthat [were] upon his armsbecame as flaxthat was burntwith fire,and his bandsloosedfrom off his hands.15And he founda newjawboneof an ass,and put forthhis hand,and tookit, and slewa thousandmentherewith. 16And Samsonsaid,With the jawboneof an ass,heapsupon heaps,with the jawof an asshave I slaina thousandmen. 17And it came to pass, when he had made an endof speaking,that he cast awaythe jawboneout of his hand,and calledthat placeRamathlehi.18And he was soreathirst,and calledon the LORD,and said,Thou hast giventhis greatdeliveranceinto the handof thy servant:and now shall I diefor thirst,and fallinto the handof the uncircumcised?19But Godclavean hollow placethat [was] in the jaw,and there camewaterthereout; and when he had drunk,his spiritcame again,and he revived:wherefore he calledthe namethereof Enhakkore,which [is] in Lehiunto this day.20And he judgedIsraelin the daysof the Philistinestwentyyears. |
