Jacob's Journey to Egypt

1And Israeltook his journeywith all that he had, and cameto Beersheba,and offeredsacrificesunto the Godof his fatherIsaac.2And Godspakeunto Israelin the visionsof the night,and said,Jacob,Jacob.And he said,Here [am] I.3And he said,I [am] God,the Godof thy father:fearnot to go downinto Egypt;for I will there makeof thee a greatnation:4I will go downwith thee into Egypt;and I will also surelybring thee up[again]: and Josephshall puthis handupon thine eyes.

5And Jacobrose upfrom Beersheba:and the sonsof IsraelcarriedJacobtheir father,and their little ones,and their wives,in the wagonswhich Pharaohhad sentto carryhim.6And they tooktheir cattle,and their goods,which they had gottenin the landof Canaan,and cameinto Egypt,Jacob,and all his seedwith him:7His sons,and his sons'sonswith him, his daughters,and his sons'daughters,and all his seedbrought hewith him into Egypt.

8And these [are] the namesof the childrenof Israel,which cameinto Egypt,Jacoband his sons:Reuben,Jacob'sfirstborn.9And the sonsof Reuben;Hanoch,and Phallu,and Hezron,and Carmi.10And the sonsof Simeon;Jemuel,and Jamin,and Ohad,and Jachin,and Zohar,and Shaulthe sonof a Canaanitishwoman.11And the sonsof Levi;Gershon,Kohath,and Merari.12And the sonsof Judah;Er,and Onan,and Shelah,and Pharez,and Zerah:but Erand Onandiedin the landof Canaan.And the sonsof Pharezwere Hezronand Hamul.13And the sonsof Issachar;Tola,and Phuvah,and Job,and Shimron.14And the sonsof Zebulun;Sered,and Elon,and Jahleel.15These [be] the sonsof Leah,which she bareunto Jacobin Padanaram,with his daughterDinah:all the soulsof his sonsand his daughters[were] thirtyand three.16And the sonsof Gad;Ziphion,and Haggi,Shuni,and Ezbon,Eri,and Arodi,and Areli.17And the sonsof Asher;Jimnah,and Ishuah,and Isui,and Beriah,and Serahtheir sister:and the sonsof Beriah;Heber,and Malchiel.18These [are] the sonsof Zilpah,whom Labangaveto Leahhis daughter,and these she bareunto Jacob,[even] sixteensouls.19The sonsof RachelJacob'swife;Joseph,and Benjamin.20And unto Josephin the landof Egyptwere bornManassehand Ephraim,which Asenaththe daughterof Potipherahpriestof Onbareunto him.21And the sonsof Benjamin[were] Belah,and Becher,and Ashbel,Gera,and Naaman,Ehi,and Rosh,Muppim,and Huppim,and Ard.22These [are] the sonsof Rachel,which were bornto Jacob:all the souls[were] fourteen.23And the sonsof Dan;Hushim.24And the sonsof Naphtali;Jahzeel,and Guni,and Jezer,and Shillem.25These [are] the sonsof Bilhah,which Labangaveunto Rachelhis daughter,and she barethese unto Jacob:all the souls[were] seven.26All the soulsthat camewith Jacobinto Egypt,which came outof his loins,besides Jacob'ssons'wives,all the souls[were] threescoreand six;27And the sonsof Joseph,which were bornhim in Egypt,[were] twosouls:all the soulsof the houseof Jacob,which cameinto Egypt,[were] threescore and ten.

Joseph Meets Jacob

28And he sentJudahbefore himunto Joseph,to directhis faceunto Goshen;and they cameinto the landof Goshen.29And Josephmade readyhis chariot,and went upto meetIsraelhis father,to Goshen,and presentedhimself unto him; and he fellon his neck,and wepton his necka good while.30And Israelsaidunto Joseph,Nowlet me die,sinceI have seenthy face,because thou [art] yetalive.31And Josephsaidunto his brethren,and unto his father'shouse,I will go up,and shewPharaoh,and sayunto him, My brethren,and my father'shouse,which [were] in the landof Canaan,are comeunto me;32And the men[are] shepherds,for their trade hath been to feed cattle;and they have broughttheir flocks,and their herds,and all that they have.33And it shall come to pass, when Pharaohshall callyou, and shall say,What [is] your occupation?34That ye shall say,Thy servants'tradehath been about cattlefrom our youtheven until now, both we, [and] also our fathers:that ye may dwellin the landof Goshen;for every shepherd[is] an abominationunto the Egyptians.
