KJV + Strong's Nebuchadnezzar's Golden Image 1Nebuchadnezzarthe kingmadean imageof gold,whose height[was] threescorecubits,[and] the breadththereof sixcubits:he set it upin the plainof Dura,in the provinceof Babylon.2Then Nebuchadnezzarthe kingsentto gather togetherthe princes,the governors,and the captains,the judges,the treasurers,the counsellors,the sheriffs,and allthe rulersof the provinces,to cometo the dedicationof the imagewhich Nebuchadnezzarthe kinghad set up.3Thenthe princes,the governors,and captains,the judges,the treasurers,the counsellors,the sheriffs,and allthe rulersof the provinces,were gathered togetherunto the dedicationof the imagethat Nebuchadnezzarthe kinghad set up;and they stoodbeforethe imagethat Nebuchadnezzarhad set up.4Then an heraldcriedaloud,To you it is commanded,O people,nations,and languages,5[That] at what timeye hearthe soundof the cornet,flute,harp,sackbut,psaltery,dulcimer,and allkindsof musick,ye fall downand worshipthe goldenimagethat Nebuchadnezzarthe kinghath set up:6And whosofallethnotdownand worshippethshall the same hourbe castinto the midstof a burningfieryfurnace.7Thereforeat that time,whenallthe peopleheardthe soundof the cornet,flute,harp,sackbut,psaltery,and allkindsof musick,allthe people,the nations,and the languages,fell down[and] worshippedthe goldenimagethat Nebuchadnezzarthe kinghad set up. Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego 8Whereforeat thattimecertainChaldeanscame near,and accusedthe Jews.9They spakeand saidto the kingNebuchadnezzar,O king,livefor ever.10Thou,O king,hast madea decree,that everymanthat shall hearthe soundof the cornet,flute,harp,sackbut,psaltery,and dulcimer,and allkindsof musick,shall fall downand worshipthe goldenimage:11And whosofallethnotdownand worshippeth,[that] he should be castinto the midstof a burningfieryfurnace.12There arecertainJewswhomthou hast setoverthe affairsof the provinceof Babylon,Shadrach,Meshach,and Abednego;thesemen,O king,havenotregardedthee:they servenotthy gods,norworshipthe goldenimagewhich thou hast set up. 13ThenNebuchadnezzarin [his] rageand furycommandedto bringShadrach,Meshach,and Abednego.Thenthey broughtthesemenbeforethe king.14Nebuchadnezzarspakeand saidunto them, [Is it] TRUE,O Shadrach,Meshach,and Abednego,do notyeservemy gods,norworshipthe goldenimagewhich I have setup?15Nowifye bereadythat at what timeye hearthe soundof the cornet,flute,harp,sackbut,psaltery,and dulcimer,and allkindsof musick,ye fall downand worshipthe imagewhich I have made;[well]: but ifye worshipnot,ye shall be castthe same hourinto the midstof a burningfieryfurnace;and who[is] that Godthat shall deliveryou out ofmy hands? 16Shadrach,Meshach,and Abednego,answeredand saidto the king,O Nebuchadnezzar,we[are] notcarefulto answerthee inthismatter.17Ifit be [so], our Godwhom weserveisableto deliverus fromthe burningfieryfurnace,andhe will deliver[us] out ofthine hand,O king.18But ifnot,be itknownunto thee, O king,that we willnotservethy gods,norworshipthe goldenimagewhich thou hast set up. The Fiery Furnace 19Thenwas Nebuchadnezzarfullof fury,and the formof his visagewas changedagainstShadrach,Meshach,and Abednego:[therefore] he spake,and commandedthat they should heatthe furnaceoneseven timesmorethanit was wontto be heated.20And he commandedthe mostmightymenthat [were] in his armyto bindShadrach,Meshach,and Abednego,[and] to cast[them] into the burningfieryfurnace.21Thenthesemenwere boundin their coats,their hosen,and their hats,and their [other] garments,and were castinto the midstof the burningfieryfurnace.22Thereforebecausethe king'scommandmentwas urgent,and the furnaceexceedinghot,the flameof the fireslewthosementhat took upShadrach,Meshach,and Abednego.23And thesethreemen,Shadrach,Meshach,and Abednego,fell downboundinto the midstof the burningfieryfurnace. 24ThenNebuchadnezzarthe kingwas astonied,and rose upin haste,[and] spake,and saidunto his counsellors,Did notwe castthreemenboundinto the midstof the fire?They answeredand saidunto the king,TRUE,O king.25He answeredand said,Lo,Iseefourmenloose,walkingin the midstof the fire,and they havenohurt;and the formof the fourthis likethe Sonof God.26ThenNebuchadnezzarcame nearto the mouthof the burningfieryfurnace,[and] spake,and said,Shadrach,Meshach,and Abednego,ye servantsof the most highGod,come forth,and come[hither]. ThenShadrach,Meshach,and Abednego,came forthofthe midstof the fire.27And the princes,governors,and captains,and the king'scounsellors,being gathered together,sawthesemen,upon whose bodiesthe firehad nopower,norwas an hairof their headsinged,neitherwere their coatschanged,northe smellof firehad passedon them. 28[Then] Nebuchadnezzarspake,and said,Blessed[be] the Godof Shadrach,Meshach,and Abednego,who hath senthis angel,and deliveredhis servantsthat trustedin him,and have changedthe king'sword,and yieldedtheir bodies,that they might notservenorworshipanygod,excepttheir own God.29Therefore Imakea decree,That everypeople,nation,and language,which speakany thing amissagainstthe Godof Shadrach,Meshach,and Abednego,shall be cutin pieces,and their housesshall be madea dunghill:becausethere isnootherGodthat candeliverafter thissort.30Thenthe kingpromotedShadrach,Meshach,and Abednego,in the provinceof Babylon. |
