Jesus Appears by the Sea of Tiberias

1After thesethings Jesus shewed Himself again to the disciples near the sea of Tiberias; and He shewedHimself thus.2Simon Peter and Thomas called Didymus, and Nathanael of Cana in Galilee, and thesons of Zebedee, and two others of his disciples were together:3and Simon Peter saith unto them, Iwill go a fishing, and they say to him, Wewill also go with thee.So they went out, and forthwith entered into a ship: and that night they caught nothing.

4But when it was morning, Jesus stood on the shore: though the disciples knew not that it was Jesus.5Then Jesus saith unto them,Young men, have ye any thing to eat?6They answered Him, No. And He said unto them,Cast the net on the right side of the ship, and ye will findsome. So they castit, and they were not able to draw itup by reason of the multitude of fishes.7Whereupon that disciple whom Jesus loved, saith to Peter, "It is the Lord." Then Simon Peter perceiving that it was the Lord, girded on his coat, (for he was stript,) and threw himself into the sea;8and the other disciples came in the boat dragging the net of fishes; for they were not far from the land, but about two hundred cubits.

9And as soon as they were come to land, they saw a fire laid, and fish uponit, and bread.10And Jesus saith unto them,Bringsome of the fish, which ye have now caught.11Then Simon Peter went aboard, and drew the net to land, full of large fishes, an hundred fifty-three: and though there were so many, the net was not broken.

12Jesus saith unto them,Come, and dine. And none of the disciples presumed to ask Him, Who art thou? knowing that it was the Lord.13Jesus therefore cometh and taketh bread, and givethit to them, and fish likewise.14This was the third time that Jesus shewed Himself toa number of his disciples, after He was risen from the dead.

Jesus and Peter

15Now when they had dined, Jesus saith to Simon Peter,Simonson of Jonas, dost thou love me more than these? He saith unto Him, Yes, Lord, Thou knowest that I love Thee. He saith unto him,Feed my lambs.16He saith to him again the second time,Simonson of Jonas, dost thou love me? He saith unto Him, Yes, Lord, Thou knowest that I love Thee.17He saith unto him,Feed my sheep. He saith unto him the third time,Simonson of Jonas, dost thou love me? Peter was grieved, that He said to him the third time,Dost thou love me? And he said unto Him, Lord, Thou knowest all things, Thou knowest that I love Thee. Jesus saith unto him,Feed my sheep.

18Verily, verily I say unto thee, When thou wast younger, thou girdedst thyself, and walkedst about where thou wouldest: but when thou art old, thou shalt stretch out thine hands, and another shall gird thee, and carry thee where thou wouldest not.19This He said, signifying by what death he should glorify God. And when He had said this, He saith unto him,Follow me.

Jesus and the Beloved Disciple

20And Peter turning about seeth the disciple whom Jesus loved, (and who leaned on his breast at supper, and said, Lord, who is he that will betray Thee?) followingthem;21and upon seeing him, Peter saith to Jesus, Lord, whatshall thisman do?22Jesus saith unto him,If I will that he stay till I come, whatis it to thee? Follow thou me.23This rumor therefore was spread among the brethren, that that disciple should not die: though Jesus did not say that he should not die, but---if I will that he stay till I come, whatis that to thee?

24This is the disciple that testifieth of thesethings, and that writeth them: and we know that his testimony is true.

25There are also many otherthings that Jesus did, which if they wereto be described particularly, I suppose that the whole world could not contain the booksthat would be writtenconcerning them. Amen.
