The Forty-Two Journeys of the Israelites
1These [are] the journeysof the childrenof Israel,which went forthout of the landof Egyptwith their armiesunder the handof Mosesand Aaron.2And Moseswrotetheir goings outaccording to their journeysby the commandmentof the LORD:and these [are] their journeysaccording to their goings out.3And they departedfrom Ramesesin the firstmonth,on the fifteenthdayof the firstmonth;on the morrowafter the passoverthe childrenof Israelwent outwith an highhandin the sightof all the Egyptians.4For the Egyptiansburiedall [their] firstborn,which the LORDhad smittenamong them: upon their godsalso the LORDexecutedjudgments.
5And the childrenof Israelremovedfrom Rameses,and pitchedin Succoth.6And they departedfrom Succoth,and pitchedin Etham,which [is] in the edgeof the wilderness.7And they removedfrom Etham,and turned againunto Pihahiroth,which [is] before Baalzephon:and they pitchedbeforeMigdol.8And they departedfrom beforePihahiroth,and passed throughthe midstof the seainto the wilderness,and wentthreedays'journeyin the wildernessof Etham,and pitchedin Marah.9And they removedfrom Marah,and cameunto Elim:and in Elim[were] twelvefountainsof water,and threescore and tenpalm trees;and they pitchedthere.10And they removedfrom Elim,and encampedby the Redsea.11And they removedfrom the Redsea,and encampedin the wildernessof Sin.12And they took their journeyout of the wildernessof Sin,and encampedin Dophkah.13And they departedfrom Dophkah,and encampedin Alush.14And they removedfrom Alush,and encampedat Rephidim,where was no waterfor the peopleto drink.15And they departedfrom Rephidim,and pitchedin the wildernessof Sinai.16And they removedfrom the desertof Sinai,and pitchedat Kibrothhattaavah.
17And they departedfrom Kibrothhattaavah,and encampedat Hazeroth.18And they departedfrom Hazeroth,and pitchedin Rithmah.19And they departedfrom Rithmah,and pitchedat Rimmonparez.20And they departedfrom Rimmonparez,and pitchedin Libnah.21And they removedfrom Libnah,and pitchedat Rissah.22And they journeyedfrom Rissah,and pitchedin Kehelathah.23And they wentfrom Kehelathah,and pitchedin mountShapher.24And they removedfrom mountShapher,and encampedin Haradah.25And they removedfrom Haradah,and pitchedin Makheloth.26And they removedfrom Makheloth,and encampedat Tahath.27And they departedfrom Tahath,and pitchedat Tarah.28And they removedfrom Tarah,and pitchedin Mithcah.29And they wentfrom Mithcah,and pitchedin Hashmonah.30And they departedfrom Hashmonah,and encampedat Moseroth.31And they departedfrom Moseroth,and pitchedin Benejaakan.32And they removedfrom Benejaakan,and encampedat Horhagidgad.33And they wentfrom Horhagidgad,and pitchedin Jotbathah.34And they removedfrom Jotbathah,and encampedat Ebronah.35And they departedfrom Ebronah,and encampedat Eziongaber.36And they removedfrom Eziongaber,and pitchedin the wildernessof Zin,which [is] Kadesh.37And they removedfrom Kadesh,and pitchedin mountHor,in the edgeof the landof Edom.
38And Aaronthe priestwent upinto mountHorat the commandmentof the LORD,and diedthere, in the fortiethyearafter the childrenof Israelwere come outof the landof Egypt,in the first[day] of the fifthmonth.39And Aaron[was] an hundredand twentyand threeyearsoldwhen he diedin mountHor.
40And kingAradthe Canaanite,which dweltin the southin the landof Canaan,heardof the comingof the childrenof Israel.
41And they departedfrom mountHor,and pitchedin Zalmonah.42And they departedfrom Zalmonah,and pitchedin Punon.43And they departedfrom Punon,and pitchedin Oboth.44And they departedfrom Oboth,and pitchedin Ijeabarim,in the borderof Moab.45And they departedfrom Iim,and pitchedin Dibongad.46And they removedfrom Dibongad,and encampedin Almondiblathaim.47And they removedfrom Almondiblathaim,and pitchedin the mountainsof Abarim,beforeNebo.48And they departedfrom the mountainsof Abarim,and pitchedin the plainsof Moabby Jordan[near] Jericho.49And they pitchedby Jordan,from Bethjesimoth[even] unto Abelshittimin the plainsof Moab.
Canaanites to Be Destroyed
50And the LORDspakeunto Mosesin the plainsof Moabby Jordan[near] Jericho,saying,51Speakunto the childrenof Israel,and sayunto them, When ye are passed overJordaninto the landof Canaan;52Then ye shall drive outall the inhabitantsof the landfrom beforeyou, and destroyall their pictures,and destroyall their moltenimages,and quite pluck downall their high places:53And ye shall dispossess[the inhabitants] of the land,and dwelltherein: for I have givenyou the landto possessit.54And ye shall dividethe landby lotfor an inheritanceamong your families:[and] to the moreye shall give the moreinheritance,and to the fewerye shall give the lessinheritance:every man's [inheritance] shall be in the place where his lotfalleth;according to the tribesof your fathersye shall inherit.55But if ye will not drive outthe inhabitantsof the landfrom beforeyou; then it shall come to pass, that those which ye let remainof them [shall be] pricksin your eyes,and thornsin your sides,and shall vexyou in the landwherein ye dwell.56Moreover it shall come to pass, [that] I shall dounto you, as I thoughtto dounto them.
