Classical disillusion. The clauses pull the narrator's eye to where objects and characters appear like photographs and disappear like the wind. The life force to act on characters in reverse that rhetoric and inverted sentences give to the scene flows through time in a fresh and quiet way which brings a metallic luster when subjects are omitted.
