First time I heard the OP I thought it was horrible ear-grating shit, but thereafter I realized the music matched the tone of the show so well. The lyrics even tell you about the premise.
Reminder that you've not finished the series if you haven't seen the OVA episode. It's a total gamechanger.
It made me realize that Erio wasn't some sort of loony chuuni but instead she was suffering from a sort of PTSD after an encounter with otherness that she just couldn't explain. And now Makoto is the same, to an extent.
There's a scene where Makoto has a little tantrum on his bed because he's so frustrated that things aren't so simple anymore. Up until that moment we think he's the one who is acting grown-up and Erio is acting childishly, but really it's the other way around. He actually grows up in those few minutes when faced with the undeniable realization that he doesn't understand everything. So he learns the hard way to just accept things as they are and goes to watch stars with Erio. And now they both sparkle.
