A reminder on The Horry Scale: It breaks down a game-winning buzzer-beater (GWBB) in the categories of difficulty, game situation (was the team tied or behind at the time?), importance (playoff game or garden-variety night in November?) and celebration. Then we give it an overall grade on a scale of 1-5 Robert Horrys, named for the patron saint of last-second answered prayers.

With Tyler Herro and Ja Morant dueling all night, it was Memphis’ star point guard who had the last say, capping a 30-point night with a game-winning fadeaway at the buzzer to give the Grizzlies a critical110-108 victory in South Beach, ending a four-game slide while halting Miami’s six-game win streak.
After Herro, who finished with a game-high 35 points, dropped a floater to tie the game at 108 with 13.8 seconds remaining, Memphis called a timeout to draw up its final possession.
GAME SITUATION:The Grizzlies decided to take the ball the length of the court after that timeout. Desmond Bane inbounded to Morant, who drove into the lane and created separation on Kel’el Ware to elevate for a smooth fadeaway jumper that bounced on the rim a couple times before finally falling through the net as the buzzer sounded.
DIFFICULTY:With the game tied at 108 and a loud Kaseya Center sure to make things difficult, Morant had to get off a shot over the outstretched arm of the 7-foot Ware. When asked about the last play, Morant was confident he’d come out a winner. “A pigeon guarding me, go get a bucket and win the game,” said Morant.
CELEBRATION:Morant ran to the end of the court to embrace and celebrate with his father Tee Morant, who was sitting courtside. The entire Grizzlies team joined in seconds later, engulfing the star guard.

GRADE:With less than two weeks left in the regular season, every game is crucial. This showdown definitely fit the billing. Not only did Morant’s heroics end Memphis’ four-game slide and give interim coach Tuomas Iisalo his first win, it moved the Grizzlies out of the SoFi NBA Play-In Tournament and into the No. 6 seed in the West. We’ll give it3 1/2 Horrys.
