Where Does Real Salt Come From?
According to geologists, the Redmond salt deposit is the remnant of an ancient inland sea, probably part of what they call the Sundance Sea, which places the deposit within the Jurassic Period. Over time, the salt that settled at the bottom of the sea was trapped within the earth and then pushed up near the surface close to the town of Redmond, Utah.
The deposit occurs with over 60+ natural trace minerals which gives the salt its unique color, unique flavor, and numerous health benefits. Because this deposit comes from an ancient sea bed, nature created the salt long before the earth experienced anthropogenic pollution and contaminants that are troubling our oceans today.
The Redmond salt deposit begins about 30 feet below the surface, covered by a layer of bentonite clay, which has protected it from erosion and from the possibility of modern contamination.

I add it to water to help with hydration, food for taste, and I combine it in other homemade seasonings without it dominating the taste. I find that it's harder to over salt something with real salt than table salt. Love this product!

It controls water weight balance and helps with food cravings. I mix 1 tsp in a large container of my daily distilled water intake. I am creating a healthy solution which alsi improve the warer absorption. Has a sweet taste. My horses and cats love it, too. My body prefers it over Himalayan and Celtic.

I'm the only one who uses it, but I use this salt daily and liberally since I need to keep my salt intake up. If you have a full family of people who use it, it will go quicker of course, but I'd say for how long it's lasted it's one of the best deals for the money. The salt is delicious, and full of healthy minerals. It's not quite as salty as regular salt, so if you switch to using only this get used to using a little bit more salt on food than you're used to. If you're worried about iodine, Real Salt has naturally occurring Iodine, and since it's not added Iodine it's almost 100% bio-available (as supposed to added Iodine which is at best about 10% bio-available. You can read about this more by searching for Dr. Brownstein's book about iodine).
Keep in mind, there are heavier minerals. I have yet to bite into these minerals in my food, and I use a lot of salt on everything, so I wouldn't worry about that too much. If you put salt in your water though, be careful. I put a little bit in my water to help with hydration, but I have to be careful not to chug it with my head tilted far up because sometimes I can feel the undissolved minerals scrape the back of my throat on the way down. So be careful if you're putting this into water that you drink it while keeping your head more level. - Reviewed in the United States on September 24, 2023We normally use Hawaiian sea salt but I wanted to try this particular salt for my fermented foods. Every batch I made with this salt was a success. This salt also has a very satisfying flavor even when you sprinkle a little bit over steamed veggies. My husband who cannot usually taste difference in subtle changes I make in my cooking quickly noticed that the taste of the food I cook got much better. Now he only asks for this salt when eating boiled eggs and veggies. It may sounds weird but I can almost feel that my body (on a cellular level) feels happy when I consume this salt. I also like to lick a tiny amount of this salt after sweating from playing pickleball for hours. It helps replenish my electrolytes. Highly recommended.

I use Redmond Real salt to make sole water, fill a large canning jar with filtered water add about 1/2 cup salt, stir well let sit 12 hrs. Add 1 tbs of sole water to a lg glass 32oz of water I also add 1/8 teaspoon of potassium. I take this water everywhere. This will give you minerals and electrolytes. This water will last indefinitely the salt is anti-bacterial. This is what you drink for exercise, not Gatorade. Sole water will keep your energy up. I eat no processed food, no gluten or grains. Keto. If you are low on energy or tired a pinch of this salt will revive you.

- Reviewed in the United States on June 26, 2019I'm a foodie. Well a recovering one. I've finally found out what are the things I like and I've sort of stopped that constant search for the 'better tasting' thing. Ahh sweet relief.
I've tasted so many salts. Cheap ones, expensive ones, domestic ones, exotic ones. And to be true they do not all taste the same.
What's funny is that this salt, my favorite, came to me first as a freebie. Someone gave me a sample at a convention and I took it home and put it on the table and when I used it I was so surprised that I could tell the difference. It isn't weird or odd tasting. It's just really good.
So I've been buying it now for a couple years and even expensive salt isn't that expensive, and this salt is not the most expensive - you can easily spend more and probably have. But I got tired of the little containers, I felt like I was paying more for that container than the salt, and I don't really like a container with a logo sitting on my table.
Bought this ridiculously huge bucket of the stuff and I just fill up the shaker for the table, and the dish I keep by the stove for cooking. I'm sure this will last a long time, but I rather have it that way than those silly little shakers.

Great value way to get your Redmond Real Salt on your diet and within your budget. In addition, the packaging is excellent. A very sturdy, quality bucket. Quite happy to see this for sale. My only issue is I wish the salt wasn't quite so finely ground. However, perhaps this is a positive as I haven't really noticed the silica for which.this product now known to be an issue. This is far less astringent than regular.refined salt so this can be a positive or negative depending on your perspective. I absolutely love this product. It tastes great and instantly flavours any food. I use it as well in homemade toothpaste and add a pinch to all my bottled water. Makes me feel good knowing this salt is packed full of so many minerals.
